Labochim boosts its offering
Labochim, the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing arm of Italy's INFA group has celebrated its 40th anniversary by adding the alcohol-withdrawal agent acamprosate, the anti-infective atovaquone, and the epilepsy pain drug pregabalin to its range.
Meanwhile, INFA is developing a modified-release formulationof alpha-lipoic acid and an innovative infusion kit for hazardous substances. It is also co-developing modified-release gabapentin.
The Italian group - which is headed by Daniele Cardoso and Annibale Salvi - said recent changes to the country's patent law to implement the European 'Bolar' provision has enabled it to extend its research and development activities.
INFA cornmented that al1 of its future activities would be bolstered by the financial support provided by its new partner Investitori Associati, one of Italy's largest private equity funds and now the firm's largest shareholder. The Italian group believes the resources provided by the fund will allow it to reinforce its position in the global API market.
